Tom Vitalgione

Board Member

Tom was born and raised in New York City, part of an immigrant family. After college, Tom spent two years in the Peace Corps in Malawi, where he met his wife, Eve. He holds a Master’s in Public Health from Columbia University, and began his career with the New York City Health Department.  A move to Raleigh to be closer to family started his thirty-year career with the North Carolina State Division of Public Health, administering children’s programs. Tom then became a senior fellow with NC Child, where he has done health/safety advocacy for over two decades. Tom’s ardent admiration of families with special needs children led him to service on the AFMFKNC Board, and he hopes to partner with families to help solve challenges and create solutions.
